FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I make an appointment?
Call 832.948.8007 and one of our staff members will set up an appointment for you or fill out the appointment request form on our site and someone will call you during business hours to set up an appointment. You may need to leave a message, as “phone tag” happens but as soon as we finish with our current client someone will call you back.
What do I expect when I make an appointment?
At the specified date and time, Dr. Rubio and our veterinary technician will arrive at your house bringing everything needed for your visit. He will treat your pet or pets in the comfort and convenience of our 26′ custom mobile veterinary hospital. He will do a complete physical exam and address your questions and concerns and discuss his findings and your pet’s recommended treatment.
Why would I want Crossway Veterinary House Calls to come to my house?
Convenience! People who have more than one pet and have young or several children, appreciate having us come to them. Busy people with hectic schedules save the driving and waiting time. Necessity! Pets who cannot handle traveling or are fearful or nervous and don’t like being around unfamiliar animals are much more relaxed in a mobile setting or at home. Some of our clients are people that cannot or do not drive. Some have elderly pets who do not walk well or cannot handle the stress of the veterinary waiting room. For Health! Animals that have a compromised immune system are not exposed to other sick pets at home. Just Because! Others simply call us for the convenience and quality of our service.
Are house calls for everyone and can you do everything at my house?
We do not see aggressive and/or feral dogs and cats. Personal safety and pet safety are issues we take seriously.
We can do most things. However, there are some procedures that require prolonged monitoring and hospitalization so for those procedures we would refer you to a local hospital or ER for monitoring. Also, there are other doctors in this area who have studied extensively in areas such as dermatology and orthopedics, so if your pet needs extra care, Dr. Rubio will refer you to a specialist.
Can I come to you?
No, we do not have a standing location for you to visit. We come to you. Our address listed is a post office box. No one will be there to see you or your pet.
What areas do you serve?
Please call if you are unsure and we will tell you if we serve your area.

Are you available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
Dr. Rubio acknowledges that despite trying to fly as a child (THAT didn’t go so well!), he simply isn’t superman. In order to give the best service to the wonderful clients he has been blessed with, he must get rest too. So, the simple answer is no. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
If you have an urgent need or an emergency during or after business hours, please take your pet directly to the emergency clinic.
